When We Get Tired
I don’t know if you can relate, but lately, I have been tired. Between change, processing that change, a full schedule, and a good dose of allergies I am worn out. And in the midst of my physical and mental fatigue, I am spiritually exhausted too.
Today, I need the reminder that I can find rest God. My God doesn’t run out of energy and He never is overwhelmed. And my God refreshes and restores me.
I don’t know where you are, what your week has been like, or what today has in store, but one thing I do know and that is God knows. He is with you. And He wants you to find comfort in His presence.
I love how God’s Word is powerful and speaks directly to our need. Today I simply want to share a few thoughts and verses that God has used to encourage me:
God never gets weary.
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.” (Isaiah 40:28-29 NASB)
But He knows I do.
“Just as a father has compassion on His children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.” (Psalm 103:13-14 NASB).
And I can find strength in His presence.
“Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” (Isaiah 41:31)
Even Jesus needed time with God.
“In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.” (Mark 1:35 NASB)
And even Jesus didn’t meet every need of every person.
“They found [Jesus], and said to Him, ‘Everyone is looking for You.’ He said to them, ‘Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby so that I may preach there also; for that is what I came for.’” (Mark 1:37-28 NASB)
I need God to direct my steps.
“Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.” (Psalm 25:12 NASB)
And He will use other people to keep me on the right path.
“But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called ‘Today,’ so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” (Hebrews 3:13 NASB)
God is ready and waiting for me to turn to Him.
“Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are those who long for Him.” (Isaiah 30:18 NASB)
And He will restore me.
“He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3 NASB)
